CT Hone, Inc. precision I.D. honed this piston shock strut with an inside diameter of 3.000″ for an aerospace client. We used our custom long/horizontal honing machine & Sunnen tooling. The piston shock strut, made of 4140 steel, with Rockwell hardness of 43 – 46, met tolerances of ± .001″ and had a microfinish of 16. We worked from a customer supplied operation sheet and 2D CAD drawing to meet our customer’s specifications.
